We have both undertaken extensive training and have had many years of experience, out of which we have developed an integrated approach that is a coherent blend of therapeutic methods. We have adopted the name “Aloha Therapy” to represent this unique way of working that allows us to be highly responsive to the needs of each individual client.
“Aloha” is a Hawaiian word with the literal meaning “in the presence of (alo) life’s energy (ha)”. The spirit of aloha is to be welcoming, to have good intention and to be caring, compassionate and genuine in all interactions. This spirit is fundamental to, and present in, all our work, whichever methods we use.
We draw from and use a wide range of modalities including integrative psychotherapy, individual and couples counselling, psychosexual therapy, cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), (EMDR) and several forms of energy therapy, including Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT, also referred to as Tapping) and Tapas Accupressure Technique (TAT).
Pyschotherapy, Counselling, EMDR and Energy Therapies (EFT and TAT) can be effective in treating symptoms of: low self-esteem, depression, stress, anxiety, panic attacks, phobias, bereavement, loss, redundancy, relationship problems, sexual problems, issues around sexuality, childhood problems, abuse, trauma, post-traumatic stress, addiction and issues of isolation or loneliness.
Some people look for help because they feel that life is empty and unsatisfying, or that things are getting on top of them. Others need a place to take some time-out, to explore thoughts and feelings and to get back on track. Other people wish to enhance their lives and are looking for personal development. We are experienced in helping clients who are having difficulties with all of the above and more.
